Serre Chevalier: The largest ski area in the Southern Alps

Serre Chevalier is one of the largest ski areas in France. The Grand Serre Che counts 250km of ski slopes with 61 ski lifts, 23% of the resort has the possibility of artificial snow cover.

Serre Chevalier has been a well-known ski resort since 1941 when the Chantemerle telepherique 1350 was constructed.

The highest peak in the ski area of Serre Chevalier is the «Pic de L'Yret» at 2850m, which guarantees quality snow cover until the end of the ski season. Situated in the Southern Alpes, Serre Chevalier benefits from an exceptional amount of sunshine, with over 300 days of sun per year !

Serre Chevalier: alpine villages and open air activities

Serre Chevalier consists of several alpine villages. Situated in the heart of the «National Parc des Ecrins», Serre Chevalier regroups 13 villages, and has a micro climate appreciated by many.

Serre Chevalier has a number of outdoor activities on offer, wintersports, also watersports as well as mountain biking, climbing, hiking or relaxing at the spa pool area in Monetier les Bain which has been recently newly extented and improved.

The Serre Chevalier valley is traversed by a river called «La Guisane» enabling watersports enthusiasts to enjoy their favourite discipline.

For beginners, there are a number of qualified instructors to teach and ensure the safety of each indiviual with properly adapted equipment for the particular sport being taught.

Cycling and Freeride Mountain biking

During the summer season, mountain passes and the surrounding areas are frequently used by many cyclists, the Col d'Izoard, Col de Galibier, Col du Granon or the Col de Lautaret, have all been made famous by the «Tour de France» which regularly comes through this area during July.

Serre Chevalier mountain biking is easily accessible by some lift systems, a great opportunity to discover this exhilarating sport in a beautiful environment.
